'I still remember frog-ponds as a boy
The sense of the burgeoning of nature and the joy
The shining starlight and the full moon in the sky
Now it’s the time of video and websites

In the vast expanses of the endless starry deep
Where planets turn & many wonders stir your sleep
We turn from agonizing over this world’s deceit
and marvel at the cosmic travelers we greet

Going with the flow in the floating world
Being in the know in the floating world
Do another show in the floating world
Crossing the bridge of dreams

In the floating world the actors strut their stuff
Policemen genuflect and priests play off the cuff
The mirror’s images reflect another world
Where no-one dares to put a price upon the pearl

Tonight the pleasures of the flesh and time combine
They seem to merge into a tired old pantomime
But nature’s vistas pull us back into our path
Where all is levity, the revelers just laugh

And if tomorrow Hokusai’s great wave comes in
Or on the bridge Hiroshige’s shower of raindrops sting
Head for the mountain highlands with the new age tribes
This world is shifting like the starlings in the sky

Politicians and their cronies swarm the town
Followed by a theatre of financiers who frown,
Like sly Siamese cats they prowl the shadowed streets
But their time is past, their lies are obsolete
